Four people died Tuesday night following a multi-vehicle crash in Malibu.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. on the 21500 block of the Pacific Coast Highway.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, four people were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two others were injured and crews were working to remove them from the vehicles and transport them to the hospital. The severity of their injuries is unclear at this time.

In a video from Sky5, at least two automobiles, including one that rolled onto its side, appeared to have suffered significant damage. One of the automobiles’ severe front end damage seems to suggest that the impact was a head-on collision.

A L.A. Fire Cpt. informed KTLA, “We’ve had a horrible car accident and it’s closed down all of PCH.” Sadly, we have four dead on arrival, or victims who did not survive. The sheriff is on the scene, and they are conducting a thorough investigation to see what led to this. Right now, the scene is difficult.

Authorities are still looking into the crash’s circumstances, but they told KTLA’s Omar Lewis that speed was probably a contributing factor.

As investigators with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department gathered evidence and crews tried to clear the site, CHP issued a SigAlert for PCH in both directions between Las Flores Canyon Road and Carbon Canyon Road.
