According to the White House, the US is working diligently to learn more about Americans who are missing in Israel.

The US is working “literally by the hour” to find out more about Americans who are missing in Israel, but it is still unclear how many, if any, are hostages being held by Hamas.

The spokesperson for the National Security Council, John Kirby, stated Monday night that “we can’t confirm that they are actually holding hostages.” The truth is that we don’t really know how many people are missing overall, he admitted.

Kirby described the ongoing efforts as a multi-pronged effort that involved collaboration with the Israelis and direct communication with American families in order to identify and estimate the number of Americans who might be held captive.

“We’re in direct communication with them at various levels to try to get as much information they might have that can help us,” the man stated.

Asked for information, “many family members” of persons who are missing have been “hearing from the US government,” according to Kirby.

Kirby opted not to specify how many families the US has spoken to since the attacks on Saturday.

We are working incredibly hard to find each of the unaccounted-for Americans because we are aware that there are many of them. And to and to attempt to ascertain their location,” he said.
