Emily Hampshire, an actress from Schitt’s Creek, has expressed regret for spending Halloween with a friend and masquerading as Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
Hampshire, 42, apologized and expressed shame to her Instagram followers.
In a since-deleted photo, Hampshire seemed styled like actor Johnny Depp, complete with tattoos and drawn-on facial hair, while her pal, playing the actor’s ex-wife, furrowed her brow in mock anxiety.
Heard and Depp, a former marriage, both charged one another with domestic violence.
The costume was “one of the most thoughtless, insensitive, and ignorant things” Hampshire, who as Stevie Budd in the sitcom Schitt’s Creek, had ever done.
The Canadian actress had her hair pulled back and was dressed in a pinstriped suit in the initial post. She was also clutching a bottle of wine, which seemed to allude to information from the couple’s publicly broadcast court case from the previous year.
Hampshire continued, writing that “domestic abuse is never, ever funny” and that she felt guilty for putting “something that awful out into the universe”.
Due to a US court case in which Depp accused his ex-wife of defamation over a piece she wrote for the Washington Post, Heard and Depp’s relationship came under scrutiny last year.

Heard said in the 2018 opinion post that she had “felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out,” lost her job, and got death threats as a result of accusing her ex-husband of domestic abuse.
Depp, who prevailed in the seven-week trial against Heard, said the report implied he was abusive toward her.
In the UK, Depp lost a comparable action against the Sun newspaper two years prior when the High Court determined that an article calling him a “wife-beater” had “substantially true” language.
