Iran and Pakistan navies engage in a combined military drill


The maneuvers were conducted on Tuesday off the coast of Bandar Abbas, a port city in southern Iran.

Participating in the exercises were combat vessels and missile-launching warships from the Pakistan Navy and the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy.

The primary objectives of the naval exercises were outlined as increasing the caliber of training exchanges and interactions, advancing military ties, and carrying out bilateral maritime agreements.

Iranian and Pakistani naval cadets and young officers practiced communication and interaction through a variety of telecommunication systems and used a wide range of naval tactics during their drills.

They also rehearsed message sending and receiving in case of an emergency at sea.

In recent years, Iran and Pakistani have conducted several cooperative naval drills as well as increased their military cooperation.

Senior military leaders from Pakistani and Iran discussed plans for their countries’ navy and air forces to work together in June.

After visiting Islamabad, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani met separately with Pakistan’s Chief of Air Staff Zaheer Ahmad Babar and Chief of Naval Staff Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi.
