For twelve years, Sophia Thomalla was a part of the CDU. She explains why she is leaving and how it relates to her ex on Instagram. Berlin. Sophia Thomalla turned 34 a few days ago. On October 6, the actress and presenter used her birthday to settle scores with “fake friends” on Instagram. Now that she has taken the initiative, Simone Thomalla’s daughter has revealed that she will be leaving the CDU in an Instagram story posted on Thursday morning.
Thomalla goes into great length about her choice in her post. The reason is that Till Lindemann, a singer for the band Rammstein, has been accused of abusing her in the past.
It specifically refers to the event “Violence against Women – Breaking the Silence” of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag, which was co-initiated by the Union lawmakers Julia Klöckner and Dorothee Bär. A discussion regarding the band was sparked by statements Shelby Lynn, an Irishwoman, made on social media about a Rammstein concert in Lithuania.
German “realistic politics” are criticized by Sophia Thomalla
Thomalla, who immediately after the initial accusations backed Lindemann and charged Lynn with lying, strongly criticizes the Irishwoman as well as the CDU in her post. According to Thomalla, “The lady who even claims that Till never touched her, giving a stage in the German Bundestag (sic!) as part of an event called “Violence against Women,” reflects exactly the unrealistic politics that so many citizens have been rightly criticizing for months.”
Thomalla expresses dissatisfaction with federal politics in general in addition to taking a stance against Bär, Klöckner, and Lynn. She bemoans the fact that the AfD is growing because politicians like Dorothee Bär and Julia Klöckner put the needs of the woke Berlin bubble before those of regular people. Thomalla, a 12-year CDU member, announces her resignation from the group and expresses her displeasure with politicians losing touch with reality, a position she refuses to support. In plainer terms, she is leaving the CDU to distinguish herself from the tendency of politicians courting the awakened audience for attention rather than tackling real issues.
Following Shelby Lynn’s comments, Till Lindemann was accused by other women in recent months, some of whom spoke out anonymously in media reports. Women mentioned scenarios that they occasionally found terrifying in it. During the concerts, young women were chosen and asked whether they would want to attend the after-concert party. Some women’s tales also include sexual activity.
Thomalla, a self-professed CDU member and Rammstein fan, supposedly felt so badly this evening that she decided to leave the party after 12 years. “This is how I inform you that I am leaving the CDU after 12 years,” she posted in her Instagram story on Thursday morning. The host of “Are You The One?” had previously advocated for the Union more frequently in interviews and had also participated in electoral campaigns, including as those in 2017 for then-Chancellor Angela Merkel and in 2021 for then-Candidate for Chancellor Armin Laschet. She then released a two-page statement outlining her decision. Giving Shelby Lynn a stage shows “exactly the unrealistic politics that so many citizens have rightly criticized for months.”
Lindemann had denied the accusations made against him. The Berlin public prosecutor’s office reportedly opened an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct against the front man of Rammstein; however, this was ended at the end of August. The review of the available material, according to the public prosecutor’s office, did not reveal any proof that Lindemann “performed sexual acts on women against their will.” The swift conclusion of the investigation by the Berlin public prosecutor’s office, according to Lindemann’s legal team, “demonstrates that there is insufficient evidence or indication of our client’s alleged commission of sexual crimes.” The band has already revealed that they will embark on another tour in 2019.
Following sexism allegations, Rammstein will tour once more in 2024.
