The Imperial Household Agency releases observations of Their Majesties’ visit to Kagoshima for the National Athletic Meet, which is the first in eight years.
Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress will arrive in Kagoshima on the 7th for the first time in eight years to coincide with the start of the Kagoshima National Athletic Meet. Around 9:00 p.m., the Imperial Household Agency conducted a press conference in Kagoshima City to share their impressions of Their Majesties.
[The Kirishima Mountain Range’s picturesque countryside as seen from the air]
I’m delighted we were able to make our first joint trip to Kagoshima Prefecture in eight years. The Kirishima Mountain Range and the yellow rice ears were seen from the plane’s window as we flew there. The rural setting was lovely. The National Athletic Meet was delayed for three years due to the impacts of the new coronavirus, but this time it was decided to hold a special National Athletic Meet, and I was able to go along with many other individuals who came together from all over the country. This makes me very happy. The effort that everyone engaged has put forth over this time has been greatly appreciated by me.
“The general opening ceremony highlighted different features, including Kagoshima’s history and nature. The energetic pre-ceremony performance made an impression. I was impressed by the engaging pre-ceremony shows that the numerous performers produced. Through this competition, a lot of athletes got to know one another and practiced hard for the competition that will take place at the end of this month. I’m hoping that this occasion, along with the approaching National Sports Festival for the Disabled, will promote the growth and expansion of sports. I was once more made aware of the importance about sports”
We were able to gain a deeper understanding of the different policies Kagoshima Prefecture is currently implementing, such as the production status of premium ingredients and traditional crafts, when Governor Shioda gave us an overview of the prefectural administration in the evening at the hotel. Then, during the meeting with the tournament’s participants, we met with individuals who have contributed to the National Athletic Meet and have been actively interested in sports for a long time. We listened to them discuss their activities and reinforce the value of sports.
“I’m looking forward to visiting a sweet potato cultivation site that I hear the prefecture is working on tomorrow and watching the fencing competition at the National Athletic Meet for the initial instance. Along with tonight’s lantern ceremony, I’m looking forward to seeing the fencing competition for the first time. We want to thank the residents of the prefecture for the gracious reception they received.
Tomorrow, on the 8th, Their Majesties’ tour to Kagoshima will come to a close. They will go to a sweet potato field in Kanoya City after viewing a fencing match in Tarumi City on the eighth. is.
